Who Am I?
My name is Jacques Terblanche.
This website - Amateur Perfectionist, is my personal space for posting about things that I don’t want to put on social media. I'm not interested in making money from anything on here (for now), just in putting my little projects and ideas out there. Making my own website to do this gives me all the space to be creative and experiment that I could possibly want, and it’s also a fun project by itself.
Amateur Perfectionist to me is a phrase that came to my mind when I realised how often I leave projects or hobbies that I enjoy unfinished because I don’t think they’ll ever be good enough. I originally wanted to use it for an album title - but the album doesn’t exist, and maybe never will. Anyway, I liked the phrase, and the more I thought about it, the more I redefined for myself what it means to me. I think to be an amateur perfectionist means embracing both - amateur and perfectionist - to be willing to try new things and keep at them. There's a more "poetic" phrasing on the main page, but that's the core idea.
